Being Argos instruments compliant with IATA rules for air transportation, Photometry measurement service is performed by Argos team worldwide for:

  • Runway/Taxiway inset and elevated AGL, using the SMF/Mobile system, driving a vehicle made available by Argos or by the end user; SMF/Mobile is also able to measure the photometric parameters of PAPI units (i.e. intensity and colour) as well as flashing lights (i.e. RGL, RTIL, Approach Flashing Lights); in case of the lights are reachable by the vehicle or are installed on poles with height up to 2.5 m, the measurement will be performed with SMF/Table;.
  • For elevated approach lights not reachable by vehicle, using the SMF/Esil system able to measure lights installed on poles with height up to 7 m by ground;
  • For PAPI units, using the SMF/PAPI system, able to provide by ground the PAPI transition angle measurement with accuracy better than 1 minute and certified to be used as alternative to the flight inspection;
  • For vertical signs, using the SMF/Sign system, able to assess the compliance with photometric performances requested by EASA recommendations through a very fast procedure based on a picture of vertical sign taken with a calibrated camera;
  • For apron floodlight using the SMF/Apron installed in Apron configuration, able to measure horizontal and vertical illuminance of apron area in a single run. The service is performed nighttime by a team composed by Argos qualified technicians taking no more than a couple of nights for a CAT I airport and not more four nights for CAT II/III airports having supposed the runways available from 11.00 pm to 05.00 am. The complete reports (English language) will be issued within 2 days from the end of the service and can be customized according to end user needs.
